Driver Training

By reading the website www.advancedrive.com you agree to all of Advance Drive’s terms and conditions. Terms and conditions can be updated by Advance Drive without notice so it is important to check for updates.
All Advance Drive’s instructors are approved by the relative bodies for the particular type of training being undertaken. I.e. Driving Instructors are approved by the Road Safety Authority to deliver driver training for Motorbike, Car, Truck and Bus.
As per the ADI Voluntary Code of Practice, All Advance Drive’s instructors are professional, well groomed, mannerly and treat all customers with respect and consideration.
All Advance Drive’s training vehicles used for driver training are clean, maintained regularly fully insured and fit for purpose meeting all requirements laid out by the RSA.
Advance Drive reserves the right not to offer driver training to any learner driver.
Advance Drive can stop a lesson at any time should they feel that the learner is a danger to themselves, the vehicle or other road users. If a lesson is stopped Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Learners should be well rested and fit to drive for all lessons. Advance Drive can refuse a lesson should they have reason to believe that the learner is under the influence of alcohol / drugs or is excessively tired. If a lesson is refused Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Advance Drive start all driver training lessons from Salthill in Galway unless otherwise arranged.
Cancellation / Rescheduling – Minimum 48 hours notice must be given and confirmed to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson. A cancellation fee of €25 per hour applies to all lessons cancelled after this time. In the event of a no show or cancellation / reschedule within 24 hour of the appointment the total cost of the booking must be paid.
Payment for driving lessons can be made on the day or in advance. In the event of a no show the full amount is owed as the instructor’s time and the vehicle was held and the time could not be offered to anyone else.
Please note that prepaid fees are non refundable.
Learner drivers must hold a valid learner permit and have it available for the instructor on every lesson. A receipt of application from the NDLS is not acceptable and cannot be used to start lessons. If a learner driver arrives to a lesson without a valid learner permit then the lesson will be cancelled without refund. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred.
Advance Drive requires a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice to accommodate learners for their driving test dates. It is advisable that learners would come for an assessment lesson before applying for their driving test in order for the instructor to see their standard of driving and assess how much time will be required to get to test standard.
Advance Drive reserves the right to refuse the use of a vehicle for the driving test should they feel that the learner is unsafe or potentially a risk to themselves or others.
Driving tests take preference over driving lessons and in the event that a driving test date should clash with existing lessons, Advance Drive may have to reschedule driving lessons to accommodate. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of rescheduling lessons.
In the case of circumstances beyond our control such as break down of vehicles and adverse weather conditions, Advance Drive reserves the right to postpone driving lessons. Advance Drive cannot he held responsible for costs incurred as a result.
As Advance Drive’s instructors are fully booked each day it is important that learners are punctual for their driving lessons. If you’re running late for your lessons please notify the office or your instructor at your earliest convenience. Instructors will wait for a maximum time of 30 minutes before the lesson is deemed to be a no show. In turn learners are asked to wait for the same time for instructors in the case that they are running behind for unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this will be made up by the instructor on the day or on the next lesson.
Advance Drive reserves the right to change the cost of any lessons or services at anytime. If a customer has started lessons the original cost will apply until they pass their driving test. If you‘re a new customer, it is important to contact the office to confirm all costs for services prior to booking.
All queries made by phone and email to Advance Drive will be replied to within 48 hours where possible. Please note social media may not be checked daily so it is advisable to email or call the office for help with enquiries.
Advance Drive reserves the right to not reply to any emails or enquiries that they deem to spam, junk or of a false nature.

Driver Hire Terms of Business

1. Driver Hire refers to the hire of drivers only. 2. Companies looking to hire a driver must ensure that vehicles used are taxed, insured, road worthy and have valid NCT or CVRT. 3. Bookings are confirmed once the job has been accepted and a driver appointed. 4. Once a booking is confirmed we require the following notice for cancellations: 21 Days Notice No Fee, 11 – 20 Days Notice Minimum Daily Rate Applies, 10 Days Notice Time Booked is Time Paid. 5. Payment is due within 21 days from date of invoice.

Driver CPC Training

Payment for Driver CPC Training courses is required in advance to confirm bookings. Please note that fees are non refundable. Once bookings have been made and accepted by Advance Drive. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Advance Drive requires 48 hours notice to reschedule any bookings made for Driver CPC Training courses. Any cancellations made after this time will result in loss of payment.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are non refundable and valid for 6 months from issue date.
If a Gift Voucher is lost or mislaid, it may only be redeemed providing it has been bought in a person’s name and they have proof of purchase.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint that cannot be resolved with the help of your driving instructor, complaints should be made in writing and emailed to info@advancedrive.com or posted to Advance Drive, 166 Upper Salthill, Galway.

Just passed my driving test. Could not have done it without the help and support of Advance Drive. My instructor, Adam, was fantastic. He had so much patience with me and never did I feel under massive pressure. He really helped me get to grips with areas I was having great dfficulty with. He had faith in me when I didn't and that meant the world to me. Also helped bring my stress levels down so a massive thank you to Adam. The people in the office were always exceptionally kind and friendly to me and for that I say thank you so much. Really appreciated. Overall I really enjoyed working with Advance Drive. Would recommend them to anyone who would like to learn to drive.

once again i have to complement all at advance drive ive just passed my bus test and got no marks this is down to dessie my instructor he went trough every little detail fully over and over again he is calm but misses nothing and is able to push you to your best he is a true professional this is my second time with dessie he got me trough the artic as well i will highly recomend advance drive to anyone thinking of doing driving lessons they take you on board as an individual and work with your needs to get you through regis golding

I recently successfully completed my class D driving test. Training was provided by Advance Drive. I was lucky to have been paired with Noel one of the many instructors for the duration of my training. It was an enjoyable experience. Noel was so knowledgeable and he punctuated each lesson with pearls of wisdom and advice. He broke the whole driving process down to make it more readily understandable. All of the staff at Advance Drive were so professional from the very first day. There was a steady stream of emails and text messages to remind you of your driving lessons. Nothing was left to chance during training. Top marks all round to Advance Drive and their staff. June 2024.

Can't thank the staff at Advance Drive enough, only for them I wouldn't have my truck licence. I would highly recommend them especially Mike (driving instructor), Trevor Bonner (Forklift instructor) and James Folan (Rules of the Road). Lee done most of my lessons, he's a strict instructor but good, always open to questions. I was fairly nervous on the run up to my driving test but Mike really helped, he gave me a mock test, it eased my nerves. I really enjoyed the HGV course. All the staff are lovely, very approachable and easy to talk to. I'd highly recommend Advance Drive, keep up the good work!

I have been a client of Advance drive since 2022. With the guidance of the very professional team at Advance Drive, I have passed my bus, rigid and artic driving tests and CPC tests.I could not recommend Advance drive highly enough, the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and make the learning process very easy with the whole operation being expertly organised by Aoife. A special mention for Noel, Martin and Dezzie for all of their advice and guidance. Thanks to you all.

I would like to take this oppertunity to thank Philip and all the gang at Advance Drive. I had Noel as my instructor, he was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic with the rules of the road, reading the road, correct road position and so on. From a complete novice in an artic truck to passing it first time was all down to his excellent teaching and patience. Thank God he had a lot of patience ..... I would highly recommend Noel as an instructor and Advance as a great place to learn how to drive. From the girls at receiption to all the instructors, they could'nt be nicer. Thanks again Noel .....top man.

JUST PASSED MY BUS TEST TODAY,THANKS TO EVERYONE AT ADVANCED DRIVE FROM THE OFFICE STAFF TO INSTRUCTORS WELL DONE TO EVERYONE AND TO MY EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTOR ,LEE WHO HAD THE PATIENCE ,PRESERVERNCE,AND EXCEPTIONAL INTUITION IN GETTING ME TO MANAGE A BUS ,ITS A JOURNEY THAT I THOURGHLY ENJOYED AND LEARNED SO MUCH .IF ANYONE HAS AN INTEREST IN BECOMMING A BUS DRIVER I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND ADVANCE DRIVE FOR PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION ,GREAT POSITIVE FEEDBACK ,AND MOST IMPORTANTLY INSTRUCTED ON HOW TO MANAGE A BUS SAFELY.THIS IS A SKILL YOU WILL HAVE FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE,SO ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE LIKE I DID ,"ITS NOT THE TEST THAT WAS THE MAIN GOAL BUT THE JOURNEY ALONG THE WAY IN GETTING TO THE END GOAL WHICH IS TO PASS YOUR TEST,I THINK THAT THE EXPERIENCES ALONG THE WAY ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT AS PASSING YOUR TEST. Passed my category D bus driving test first time with a clean sheet. This was thanks to my instructor Gerry B's fantastic training and guidance. Gerry guided me from complete novice to competent driver and did it with patience, professionalism and good humour. I always felt comfortable and in good hands throughout my training. Fantastic trainer, great knowledge and a genuinely nice guy. The ladies in the office were also very helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommend Advanced Drive to anyone looking to aquire their licence.

The in-house staff at advanced drive are very helpful, friendly and went out of their way to help me with any queries I had. Even if they did not have the answer at hand, they made sure to phone me back with the answer. It is a very professional and welcoming environment and despite the course being 3 months, it felt like 3 weeks. My instructor, Gerry Burke was a fantastic instructor. He was friendly, banterful yet firm and professional. We worked on the practical aspects of the bus course rigorously all while smiling and joking, and this ultimately made the test itself a breeze.
