Driver Training

By reading the website www.advancedrive.com & booking a service, you agree to all of Advance Drive’s terms and conditions. Terms and conditions can be updated by Advance Drive without notice so it is important to check for updates.
All Advance Drive’s instructors are approved by the relative bodies for the particular type of training being undertaken. I.e. Driving Instructors are approved by the Road Safety Authority to deliver driver training for Motorbike, Car, Truck and Bus.
As per the ADI Voluntary Code of Practice, All Advance Drive’s instructors are professional, well groomed, mannerly and treat all customers with respect and consideration.
All Advance Drive’s training vehicles used for driver training are clean, maintained regularly fully insured and fit for purpose meeting all requirements laid out by the RSA.
In the unlikely event of a accident when the learner is at fault, the learner is required to pay the first €1500 for repairs on the training vehicle & any damage to third parts.
Advance Drive reserves the right not to offer driver training to any learner driver.
Advance Drive can stop a lesson at any time should they feel that the learner is a danger to themselves, the vehicle or other road users. If a lesson is stopped Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Learners should be well rested and fit to drive for all lessons. Advance Drive can refuse a lesson should they have reason to believe that the learner is under the influence of alcohol / drugs or is excessively tired. If a lesson is refused Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Advance Drive start all driver training lessons from Salthill in Galway or our headquarters in Ballybane unless otherwise arranged.

Payment / Cancellation / Rescheduling

Payment for training services & driving lessons must be made to the office at the time of booking by credit/debit card or bank transfer. Credit/debit card detail’s are taken to secure bookings.
In the event of a no show the full fee for the lesson is due as the instructor’s time and the vehicle was held and the time could not be offered to anyone else.
Cancellation / Rescheduling – Minimum 48 hours notice must be given and confirmed to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson otherwise the full fee will be charged.
In the event of a no show or cancellation / reschedule within 48 hour of the appointment the total cost of the booking must be paid. This can be paid by calling the office on 091524689, in the event that no contact is made within a week of the cancellation/no show the payment will be taken from the credit/debit card details provided at the time of the booking.
Please note that prepaid fees are non refundable. In exceptional circumstances fees paid for unused services may be refunded at the discretion of management, however 20% of these fees will be held to cover administration & other charges.

Learner Permit

Learner drivers must hold a valid learner permit and have it available for the instructor on every lesson. A receipt of application from the NDLS is not acceptable and cannot be used to start lessons. If a learner driver arrives to a lesson without a valid learner permit then the lesson will be cancelled without refund. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred.
Advance Drive requires a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice to accommodate learners for their driving test dates. It is advisable that learners come for an assessment lesson before applying for their driving test in order for the instructor to see their standard of driving and assess how much training will be required to get to test standard.
Advance Drive will NOT hire out a vehicle for a driving test without completing a minimum course of six hours of training. This is to assess a persons driving, let the learner become familiar with the vehicle controls and to cover the driving test routes.
If there is a gap between your training / last lesson and your driving test date of more than two week you will be required to take additional lessons. The number of lessons will determined by your driving instructor. If you are using your own this is not applicable.
Advance Drive reserves the right to refuse the use of a vehicle for the driving test even after completing training should they feel that the learner is unsafe or potentially a risk to themselves or others.
Driving tests take preference over driving lessons and in the event that a driving test date should clash with existing lessons, Advance Drive may have to reschedule driving lessons to accommodate. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of rescheduling lessons.
In the case of circumstances beyond our control such as break down of vehicles and adverse weather conditions, Advance Drive reserves the right to postpone driving lessons. Advance Drive cannot he held responsible for costs incurred as a result.
As Advance Drive’s instructors are fully booked each day it is important that learners are punctual for their driving lessons. If you’re running late for your lessons please notify the office or your instructor at your earliest convenience. Instructors will wait for a maximum time of 30 minutes before the lesson is deemed to be a no show. In turn learners are asked to wait for the same time for instructors in the case that they are running behind for unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this will be made up by the instructor on the day or on the next lesson.
Advance Drive reserves the right to change the cost of any lessons or services at anytime. If a customer has started lessons the original cost will apply until they pass their driving test. If you‘re a new customer, it is important to contact the office to confirm all costs for services prior to booking.
All queries made by phone and email to Advance Drive will be replied to within 48 hours where possible. Please note social media may not be checked daily so it is advisable to email or call the office for help with enquiries.
Advance Drive reserves the right to not reply to any emails or enquiries that they deem to spam, junk or of a false nature.

Driver CPC Training

Payment for Driver CPC Training courses is required in advance to confirm bookings. Please note that fees are non refundable. Once bookings have been made and accepted by Advance Drive. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Advance Drive requires 48 hours notice to reschedule any bookings made for Driver CPC Training courses. Any cancellations made after this time will result in loss of payment.

Driver Hire Terms of Business

1. Driver Hire refers to the hire of drivers only. 2. Companies looking to hire a driver must ensure that vehicles used are taxed, insured, road worthy and have valid NCT or CVRT. 3. Bookings are confirmed once the job has been accepted and a driver appointed. 4. Once a booking is confirmed we require the following notice for cancellations: 21 Days Notice No Fee, 11 – 20 Days Notice Minimum Daily Rate Applies, 10 Days Notice Time Booked is Time Paid. 5. Payment is due within 21 days from date of invoice.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are non refundable and valid for 6 months from issue date.
If a Gift Voucher is lost or mislaid, it may only be redeemed providing it has been bought in a person’s name and they have proof of purchase.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint that cannot be resolved with the help of your driving instructor, complaints should be made in writing and emailed to info@advancedrive.com or posted to Advance Drive, Bother Na Mine, Ballybane Ind Est, Galway H91 PH92

I completed my bus licence back in January and rigid licence in May with Advance Drive. I could not be any happier with all of the staff that made it such an easy task in obtaining both licences. Thanks to Lee in helping me get my bus licence, who was so professional in explaining everything in great detail to me (never knew how much you need to look in the mirrors, but I do now) but never made you feel under pressure or nervous. Thanks to Vinny for helping me get my rigid who again made everything feel so easy and yet made me laugh so much. Would highly recommend either of these two lads to teach you in either bus or truck. Massive thanks to Philip and Ailbhe who both were so accommodating in providing both information and guidance anytime it was needed, espically for the CPC theory and practical. Seriously I have greatest respect for all of ye at Advance Drive, keep up the great work and best of luck in the future.

Thanks a million to all at Advance. I've just completed a hat-trick of Rigid, Bus and Artic tests and it's all thanks to your team. I've learned a lot, made new friends and had great craic in 2024 thanks to Advance - and not forgetting Patricia and all at GRETB. Everyone involved was professional and courteous but more importantly, very helpful and supportive. The instructors all had great patience and skill - and above all, a sense of humour (and they certainly needed that at times!). And the back-room team were always a pleasure to deal with - very efficient. Phillip and Ailbhe, ye have a great team there - keep doing what ye're doing. And put me on the waiting list for next year's Sikorsky 101 course - although I'm dreading the hill-start!

Delighted to pass my Category D Bus test on my first attempt. Thanks to all at Advance Drive, a professional company who ate to be highly recommended. A special word of thanks to my fantastic instructor Noel. Noel is professional, knowledgeable, informative and good craic too. On meeting I was immediately put at ease and what followed was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If you want to learn to drive and pass your test, Noel is the instructor you want to book. (17/04/14) Looked at a number of other driving schools before choosing Advance Drive. I'm glad I went with my 'gut instinct' & chose this one. Philip did a great job of teaching me. I felt relaxed with him & learnt something at every lesson. He's patient, very astute (misses nothing!) a good communicator and great instructor. Managed to pass my driving test first time. I'm 'over the moon!' I would certainly recommend Advance Drive to anyone in the process of choosing a driving school. Thanks to Philip, Ailbhe & all at Advance Drive.

I passed my rigid test previously with Advance Drive and yesterday my jeep and trailer test, both on the first time, thanks to the great team at Advance Drive. All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Dezzie and Noel are great instructors. They keep everything calm and relaxed, whilst having a great way of helping you learn and correct any bad habits you may have picked up. Philip is an absolute genius when it comes to driving and answering questions you ask there is absolutely nothing he doesn\'t know, done 3 tests in a year rigid, coach and artic yesterday 1st oct with nearly a clean sheet only 1 fault due to another very unprofessional bus driver. how good is that for a result driving a truck with a 35ft trailor thanks to the expert tuition from Philip. impossible to fail. why go to an apprentice when you can learn from a professional cheers philip

A massive thanks to Advance Drive for the brilliant service, especially to Lee for being an extremely patient and efficient instructor. Thank you for helping me develop and improve my driving skills, which allowed me to pass my bus test on my first attempt, and for squeezing me in for early morning lessons. Lee is a good instructor who is brilliant at instilling confidence in all areas of driving. He always gives constructive feedback throughout the lessons. I cannot recommend Lee enough for learner drivers of different levels of ability and confidence. He is an incredibly supportive mentor for anyone who wants to learn.

i cant say enough good things about advance drive all there staff are excellent i now have my rigid and artic licence and 3 types of fork lifts and safe pass and all instructors were top class they have a no nonsense approach they push you when needed for your own good to get you as good as possible for your test aoife is excellent at her job. , friendly and knows all the info you need straight off vincent was my instructor for the rigid and got me through first time tops class dessie was my instructor for the artic he doesnt miss a thing but thats good he got me trough first time deserves a medal thanks to gerry and philip for all the guidance and putting me on the right path this company is not all about talking money of you its about you getting through the test and i felt this from the first phone call many thanks to all involved best regards regis golding

I have just completed the 10 week category D driver training course with Advance Drive. I would highly recommend the company and the course to anyone. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and very professional. Everything is cover from, First Aid Responder, Manual handling, Case studies and CPC practical training along with the driving test itself. My instructor "Mike" is a pure gentleman and has the patience of a Saint he made me feel at ease right from the start. As a transgender woman I'm always ony guard but it absolutely was not an issue from the get go. I will highly recommend Advance Drive in Galway to everyone.

A great experience overall doing lessons with advance drive, from booking and scheduling lessons with the ever helpful Aoife in the office to the lessons themselves with the instructor (shane) He was a great help in preparing me for the test and was always able to answer any questions regarding the test itself. When it came to the test I knew every route likely to be tested on and was confident of passing from the get go. Would highly recommend advance drive for anyone looking to get the C1 license

Having resently passed my driving test for category "D" Bus Licence, I would just like to thank Advance Drive for all the tuition and instruction that I received in preparation for the driving test and also the bus case studies exam. Ronald was on the mark as usual for the possible case study questions that might come up on the day of the test and passing on all that knowledge. Thank you Ronald so much. As far as my bus driving skills needed to be brought up to a high standard in order for me to pass the test, I have Mike to thank for all his patience and professionalism. You got me to that level required to pass. Thank you for everything Mike. Thanks also to all the staff for all the planning of lessons and date fixtures. Thank you all so much.
