Driver Training

By reading the website www.advancedrive.com you agree to all of Advance Drive’s terms and conditions. Terms and conditions can be updated by Advance Drive without notice so it is important to check for updates.
All Advance Drive’s instructors are approved by the relative bodies for the particular type of training being undertaken. I.e. Driving Instructors are approved by the Road Safety Authority to deliver driver training for Motorbike, Car, Truck and Bus.
As per the ADI Voluntary Code of Practice, All Advance Drive’s instructors are professional, well groomed, mannerly and treat all customers with respect and consideration.
All Advance Drive’s training vehicles used for driver training are clean, maintained regularly fully insured and fit for purpose meeting all requirements laid out by the RSA.
Advance Drive reserves the right not to offer driver training to any learner driver.
Advance Drive can stop a lesson at any time should they feel that the learner is a danger to themselves, the vehicle or other road users. If a lesson is stopped Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Learners should be well rested and fit to drive for all lessons. Advance Drive can refuse a lesson should they have reason to believe that the learner is under the influence of alcohol / drugs or is excessively tired. If a lesson is refused Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Advance Drive start all driver training lessons from Salthill in Galway unless otherwise arranged.
Cancellation / Rescheduling – Minimum 48 hours notice must be given and confirmed to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson. A cancellation fee of €25 per hour applies to all lessons cancelled after this time. In the event of a no show or cancellation / reschedule within 24 hour of the appointment the total cost of the booking must be paid.
Payment for driving lessons can be made on the day or in advance. In the event of a no show the full amount is owed as the instructor’s time and the vehicle was held and the time could not be offered to anyone else.
Please note that prepaid fees are non refundable.
Learner drivers must hold a valid learner permit and have it available for the instructor on every lesson. A receipt of application from the NDLS is not acceptable and cannot be used to start lessons. If a learner driver arrives to a lesson without a valid learner permit then the lesson will be cancelled without refund. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred.
Advance Drive requires a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice to accommodate learners for their driving test dates. It is advisable that learners would come for an assessment lesson before applying for their driving test in order for the instructor to see their standard of driving and assess how much time will be required to get to test standard.
Advance Drive reserves the right to refuse the use of a vehicle for the driving test should they feel that the learner is unsafe or potentially a risk to themselves or others.
Driving tests take preference over driving lessons and in the event that a driving test date should clash with existing lessons, Advance Drive may have to reschedule driving lessons to accommodate. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of rescheduling lessons.
In the case of circumstances beyond our control such as break down of vehicles and adverse weather conditions, Advance Drive reserves the right to postpone driving lessons. Advance Drive cannot he held responsible for costs incurred as a result.
As Advance Drive’s instructors are fully booked each day it is important that learners are punctual for their driving lessons. If you’re running late for your lessons please notify the office or your instructor at your earliest convenience. Instructors will wait for a maximum time of 30 minutes before the lesson is deemed to be a no show. In turn learners are asked to wait for the same time for instructors in the case that they are running behind for unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this will be made up by the instructor on the day or on the next lesson.
Advance Drive reserves the right to change the cost of any lessons or services at anytime. If a customer has started lessons the original cost will apply until they pass their driving test. If you‘re a new customer, it is important to contact the office to confirm all costs for services prior to booking.
All queries made by phone and email to Advance Drive will be replied to within 48 hours where possible. Please note social media may not be checked daily so it is advisable to email or call the office for help with enquiries.
Advance Drive reserves the right to not reply to any emails or enquiries that they deem to spam, junk or of a false nature.

Driver Hire Terms of Business

1. Driver Hire refers to the hire of drivers only. 2. Companies looking to hire a driver must ensure that vehicles used are taxed, insured, road worthy and have valid NCT or CVRT. 3. Bookings are confirmed once the job has been accepted and a driver appointed. 4. Once a booking is confirmed we require the following notice for cancellations: 21 Days Notice No Fee, 11 – 20 Days Notice Minimum Daily Rate Applies, 10 Days Notice Time Booked is Time Paid. 5. Payment is due within 21 days from date of invoice.

Driver CPC Training

Payment for Driver CPC Training courses is required in advance to confirm bookings. Please note that fees are non refundable. Once bookings have been made and accepted by Advance Drive. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Advance Drive requires 48 hours notice to reschedule any bookings made for Driver CPC Training courses. Any cancellations made after this time will result in loss of payment.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are non refundable and valid for 6 months from issue date.
If a Gift Voucher is lost or mislaid, it may only be redeemed providing it has been bought in a person’s name and they have proof of purchase.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint that cannot be resolved with the help of your driving instructor, complaints should be made in writing and emailed to info@advancedrive.com or posted to Advance Drive, 166 Upper Salthill, Galway.

I went to Advanced drive after they were recommended by a friend. I have now passed 2 tests with them (bus and truck) and can't praise them enough. Phillip and Mike are both very patient and encouraging during the learning process. During each pre-test lesson they re-assured me and gave me ways to deal with the test nerves. This patience,professionality and excellent prices, added to their felxibility in scheduling lessons make them my first choice for any more tests. well done lads

Amazing lessons, great instructors and a very central location in Galway city. This is definitely a 5 star driving school. Both office staff - Aoife and Emma were always on hand to organize lessons at very short notice along with being very helpful and professional. My instructors Lee and Anton were hugely influential upon passing my category C driving test. What you will learn from these two guys will not only benefit you during your driving test but also in your future driving life especially when it comes to your safety and well being on the road. I have just completed my "C" Truck Licence and passed on the first attempt, thanks to PJ Dunne who is a phenomenal Truck Driving Instructor: Also I had great support and assistance in preparing for my CPC practical. The structure of the lessons are second to none. I really like the fact that I had a pre test hour before my test on the day, which prepared me well and settled my nerves ! I cant thank PJ enough, and the Advance team, who were extremely accommodating when booking my lessons, which often had to be re-scheduled due to my work load. I am delighted to have passed my D bus test on the first attempt. I was lucky enough to have 2 different instructors - Noel and Gerry. I feel both instructors had a different style of teaching and I definitely learned different things from each of them. They were both very thorough in making sure I was ready for the test and confident in the test procedure. The office staff are exceptional. They are accommodating and considerate. They know their job and they were great to call me and offer me an extra lesson before my test, when a slot became available. Before passing my test, I was already recommending Advance Drive to people who have asked me about getting a bus license.

I can't speak highly enough of the team at Advance Drive, I passed the HGV rigid first time with the help of Vincent who was the instructor. He was excellent, very professional, understanding and skillful with the patience of a saint. Philip and Gerry were excellent, they were very helpful and went out of their way to to accomodate me. Finally Aoife, I can only describe Aoife as an absolute little star and a real gem for Advance Drive. I dealt with Aoife regularly and she was brilliant, extremely polite and courteous and just a real pleasure to deal with. Left no stone unturned to make sure everything was right. Today, at the age of 43, I at last passed my driving test; doing so, on my first attempt. After years of hesitancy, and a belief I wasn't capable of driving well, the skills, ability and professionalism exhibited by my driving instructor - Noel Nee, at all times ensured that I was more than capable and ready to achieve my full category B driving license. In no small way, it was the enthusiasm, patience, exacting dedication to excellence, humility, and his earnest sense of putting the learner first that allowed me advance with confidence to the position of executing my test, and further passing with a confidence I thought I did not own. Since my initial lesson with Noel, I was always greeted with optimism, calm, and a capacity to teach that at all times remained with me, and will, I believe, remain with me as I begin driving as a novice licensee. Again, since meeting Noel, I always felt listened to, treated as an equal, and spoken to in a manner that allowed me learn, returning each time with the knowledge I was growing in awareness, and further honing the skills necessary to become a competent driver. Here, his advice and willingness to go above and beyond in terms of ensuring I understood, while also instilling a belief I was more than capable, all indelibly paved the way to my passing the test in a successful manner. Today, therefore, it is without hesitation that I write this testimonial in the hope that Noel is somehow given the credit he richly deserves, and, from here, would gladly recommend him as an instructor to any and all, in particular those lacking the confidence in their own abilities. He remains an exceptionally good teacher exacting all those attributes required to allow those he tutors to excel as they should. In turn, I also wish to acknowledge the professionalism and understanding I was at all times met with by the staff at Advance Drive, in particular Aoife and Emma, who always met me with warmth, kindness, humour, and patience, in what has been an unprecedented and drawn out year. Undoubtedly, their ability to meet my needs financially allowed me to continue to progress with them, especially at times of financial stress. I passed my driving test (car) first time. I can not thank Advance Driving enough , i started my lessons with corey , and i finished my lessons with Declan. I highly recommend Declan as a driving instructor. Declan will always encourage you and support you along the way. He will make your driving experience enjoyable. Dont worry about making mistakes ,Declan is very experienced and highly skilled, you are in safe hands. Great tip : Do a lesson before the test or do a pretest or both, it helped me hugely. I would like to thank everyone at Advance Driving . The women in the office are so lovely and so pleasant to talk too that they will always do their best to accommodate ya and all the staff are very friendly. I promise you won't be disappointed doing your lessons with Advance Driving, it was worth every penny. 💯

Hi All, I just want to thank Dezzie and all the team at Advance Drive for helping me pass my Class B driving test last Monday in Westside Galway. Overall, I did 17 lessons with Dezzie in the Ford Fiesta and I found him to be extremely friendly, professional and knowledgeable at all times, and I can definitely say that he has the patience of a saint. As such, I can't recommend Advance Drive enough and I know that I would not have passed my driving test first time round without Dezzie's expert help. Thanks a million Dezzie.

Finally passed my driving test yesterday. Could not recommend Advance Drive enough, my instructor Vas was incredibly patient and could always tell me exactly where I was going wrong and what I needed to do to fix it. He was so terrific and professional and told me exactly what I needed to do to get my license. Driving did not come naturally to me at all and I had absolutely no experience driving a car before starting lessons. Even so, I always felt comfortable and never worried that getting my license was unachievable, as the lessons were really tailored to what I needed. The Advance Drive team we’re always lovely to deal with if I ever had to call them for anything. Definitely will be recommending

The in-house staff at advanced drive are very helpful, friendly and went out of their way to help me with any queries I had. Even if they did not have the answer at hand, they made sure to phone me back with the answer. It is a very professional and welcoming environment and despite the course being 3 months, it felt like 3 weeks. My instructor, Gerry Burke was a fantastic instructor. He was friendly, banterful yet firm and professional. We worked on the practical aspects of the bus course rigorously all while smiling and joking, and this ultimately made the test itself a breeze.

I would like to take this oppertunity to thank Philip and all the gang at Advance Drive. I had Noel as my instructor, he was absolutely brilliant. Fantastic with the rules of the road, reading the road, correct road position and so on. From a complete novice in an artic truck to passing it first time was all down to his excellent teaching and patience. Thank God he had a lot of patience ..... I would highly recommend Noel as an instructor and Advance as a great place to learn how to drive. From the girls at receiption to all the instructors, they could'nt be nicer. I would like to say a big thank you to all at Advance Drive for helping me pass my class C driving test. Always professional and courteous. For all you aspiring truck and bus drivers out there I would definitely recommend Advance Drive so mush so I can't wait to do my artic training with them as soon as I get my provisional license. Philip is an absolute genius when it comes to driving and answering questions you ask there is absolutely nothing he doesn\'t know, done 3 tests in a year rigid, coach and artic yesterday 1st oct with nearly a clean sheet only 1 fault due to another very unprofessional bus driver. how good is that for a result driving a truck with a 35ft trailor thanks to the expert tuition from Philip. impossible to fail. why go to an apprentice when you can learn from a professional cheers philip

You can't go wrong with Choosing Advance Drive The entire Team are so helpful and will do their best to get you where you need to go. I recently passed my Artic Licence first go and it's all thanks to Noel my instructor he is incredibly patent and will explain everything in great detail and knows excatly how to guide ya through the process and he is also great craic most fun I had while learning also he has a great way of making it feel so chill and relax.
