Driver Training

By reading the website www.advancedrive.com you agree to all of Advance Drive’s terms and conditions. Terms and conditions can be updated by Advance Drive without notice so it is important to check for updates.
All Advance Drive’s instructors are approved by the relative bodies for the particular type of training being undertaken. I.e. Driving Instructors are approved by the Road Safety Authority to deliver driver training for Motorbike, Car, Truck and Bus.
As per the ADI Voluntary Code of Practice, All Advance Drive’s instructors are professional, well groomed, mannerly and treat all customers with respect and consideration.
All Advance Drive’s training vehicles used for driver training are clean, maintained regularly fully insured and fit for purpose meeting all requirements laid out by the RSA.
Advance Drive reserves the right not to offer driver training to any learner driver.
Advance Drive can stop a lesson at any time should they feel that the learner is a danger to themselves, the vehicle or other road users. If a lesson is stopped Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Learners should be well rested and fit to drive for all lessons. Advance Drive can refuse a lesson should they have reason to believe that the learner is under the influence of alcohol / drugs or is excessively tired. If a lesson is refused Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any time lost or costs incurred.
Advance Drive start all driver training lessons from Salthill in Galway unless otherwise arranged.
Cancellation / Rescheduling – Minimum 48 hours notice must be given and confirmed to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson. A cancellation fee of €25 per hour applies to all lessons cancelled after this time. In the event of a no show or cancellation / reschedule within 24 hour of the appointment the total cost of the booking must be paid.
Payment for driving lessons can be made on the day or in advance. In the event of a no show the full amount is owed as the instructor’s time and the vehicle was held and the time could not be offered to anyone else.
Please note that prepaid fees are non refundable.
Learner drivers must hold a valid learner permit and have it available for the instructor on every lesson. A receipt of application from the NDLS is not acceptable and cannot be used to start lessons. If a learner driver arrives to a lesson without a valid learner permit then the lesson will be cancelled without refund. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred.
Advance Drive requires a minimum of 4 weeks’ notice to accommodate learners for their driving test dates. It is advisable that learners would come for an assessment lesson before applying for their driving test in order for the instructor to see their standard of driving and assess how much time will be required to get to test standard.
Advance Drive reserves the right to refuse the use of a vehicle for the driving test should they feel that the learner is unsafe or potentially a risk to themselves or others.
Driving tests take preference over driving lessons and in the event that a driving test date should clash with existing lessons, Advance Drive may have to reschedule driving lessons to accommodate. Advance Drive cannot be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of rescheduling lessons.
In the case of circumstances beyond our control such as break down of vehicles and adverse weather conditions, Advance Drive reserves the right to postpone driving lessons. Advance Drive cannot he held responsible for costs incurred as a result.
As Advance Drive’s instructors are fully booked each day it is important that learners are punctual for their driving lessons. If you’re running late for your lessons please notify the office or your instructor at your earliest convenience. Instructors will wait for a maximum time of 30 minutes before the lesson is deemed to be a no show. In turn learners are asked to wait for the same time for instructors in the case that they are running behind for unforeseen circumstances. Any lesson time lost as a result of this will be made up by the instructor on the day or on the next lesson.
Advance Drive reserves the right to change the cost of any lessons or services at anytime. If a customer has started lessons the original cost will apply until they pass their driving test. If you‘re a new customer, it is important to contact the office to confirm all costs for services prior to booking.
All queries made by phone and email to Advance Drive will be replied to within 48 hours where possible. Please note social media may not be checked daily so it is advisable to email or call the office for help with enquiries.
Advance Drive reserves the right to not reply to any emails or enquiries that they deem to spam, junk or of a false nature.

Driver Hire Terms of Business

1. Driver Hire refers to the hire of drivers only. 2. Companies looking to hire a driver must ensure that vehicles used are taxed, insured, road worthy and have valid NCT or CVRT. 3. Bookings are confirmed once the job has been accepted and a driver appointed. 4. Once a booking is confirmed we require the following notice for cancellations: 21 Days Notice No Fee, 11 – 20 Days Notice Minimum Daily Rate Applies, 10 Days Notice Time Booked is Time Paid. 5. Payment is due within 21 days from date of invoice.

Driver CPC Training

Payment for Driver CPC Training courses is required in advance to confirm bookings. Please note that fees are non refundable. Once bookings have been made and accepted by Advance Drive. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Advance Drive requires 48 hours notice to reschedule any bookings made for Driver CPC Training courses. Any cancellations made after this time will result in loss of payment.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are non refundable and valid for 6 months from issue date.
If a Gift Voucher is lost or mislaid, it may only be redeemed providing it has been bought in a person’s name and they have proof of purchase.

Complaints

In the event of a complaint that cannot be resolved with the help of your driving instructor, complaints should be made in writing and emailed to info@advancedrive.com or posted to Advance Drive, 166 Upper Salthill, Galway.

After weeks of preparation and hard work, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve passed my bus driving licence exam! The journey wasn’t always easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. I want to thank my instructor (Noel) for their patience and guidance throughout the training process. He is not only taught me the technical skills needed but also instilled confidence in my abilities to handle a bus safely and responsibly. The testing process was thorough and fair, challenging me to showcase all the skills and knowledge I’d gained. Passing this milestone feels like a major achievement, and I’m excited to begin a new chapter in my career as a licensed bus driver. To anyone preparing for their own test: stay focused, trust the process, and practice as much as you can. It’s worth it!

This week I passed my Driver CPC case studies and minibus driving test with advance drive. A special thanks to owner Philip and staff Ronald,Gerry, Emma and Aoife who are so professional. My instructor was a really special man Dezzie who is the best.....Dezzie you are the man! Looking back now that all this is done and dusted I cant believe how nervous I was but Dezzie stuck with me and rather than giving up he kept me going and going. Thanks a million Dez for staying with me and you words of encouragement. This school Advance Drive I highly recommend and is the best and keep winning those awards.

I passed my driving test (car) first time. I can not thank Advance Driving enough , i started my lessons with corey , and i finished my lessons with Declan. I highly recommend Declan as a driving instructor. Declan will always encourage you and support you along the way. He will make your driving experience enjoyable. Dont worry about making mistakes ,Declan is very experienced and highly skilled, you are in safe hands. Great tip : Do a lesson before the test or do a pretest or both, it helped me hugely. I would like to thank everyone at Advance Driving . The women in the office are so lovely and so pleasant to talk too that they will always do their best to accommodate ya and all the staff are very friendly. I promise you won't be disappointed doing your lessons with Advance Driving, it was worth every penny. 💯

(17/04/14) Looked at a number of other driving schools before choosing Advance Drive. I'm glad I went with my 'gut instinct' & chose this one. Philip did a great job of teaching me. I felt relaxed with him & learnt something at every lesson. He's patient, very astute (misses nothing!) a good communicator and great instructor. Managed to pass my driving test first time. Having resently passed my driving test for category "D" Bus Licence, I would just like to thank Advance Drive for all the tuition and instruction that I received in preparation for the driving test and also the bus case studies exam. Ronald was on the mark as usual for the possible case study questions that might come up on the day of the test and passing on all that knowledge. Thank you Ronald so much. As far as my bus driving skills needed to be brought up to a high standard in order for me to pass the test, I have Mike to thank for all his patience and professionalism. You got me to that level required to pass. Thank you for everything Mike. Thanks also to all the staff for all the planning of lessons and date fixtures. Thank you all so much. Amazing lessons, great instructors and a very central location in Galway city. This is definitely a 5 star driving school. Both office staff - Aoife and Emma were always on hand to organize lessons at very short notice along with being very helpful and professional. My instructors Lee and Anton were hugely influential upon passing my category C driving test. What you will learn from these two guys will not only benefit you during your driving test but also in your future driving life especially when it comes to your safety and well being on the road. I just completed a 10 week GRETB bus drivers course. The course was managed and run by Advance Drive Galway . The course included ten two hour lessons. CPC training,first aid responders course and lifting and manual handling course. Advance Drive are a very professional organisation. There staff and management were very friendly, supportive and efficient in everything they did. My instructor for the 10 weeks was Vincent Jennings. He was an excellent tutor with great patience. He really prepared me for my test, which I passed on my first attempt. I would highly recommend Advance Drive for anyone considering bus driving as a profession.

My driving lessons were disrupted by the recent health crisis, but once I joined up with Advance Drive and my instructor Martin, I flew through my remaining EDT's. Martin was a fantastic instructor and made me feel very comfortable getting back to driving as I was quite nervous. After a few lessons with him, my confidence grew leaps and bounds and with just three extra lessons after the essential ones, I passed my test the first time! I would highly recommend Martin and Advance Drive to anyone no matter where you are on your driving journey. Thanks so much Martin, couldn't have done it without you!!

I recently successfully completed my class D driving test. Training was provided by Advance Drive. I was lucky to have been paired with Noel one of the many instructors for the duration of my training. It was an enjoyable experience. Noel was so knowledgeable and he punctuated each lesson with pearls of wisdom and advice. He broke the whole driving process down to make it more readily understandable. All of the staff at Advance Drive were so professional from the very first day. There was a steady stream of emails and text messages to remind you of your driving lessons. Nothing was left to chance during training. Top marks all round to Advance Drive and their staff. June 2024.

i cant say enough good things about advance drive all there staff are excellent i now have my rigid and artic licence and 3 types of fork lifts and safe pass and all instructors were top class they have a no nonsense approach they push you when needed for your own good to get you as good as possible for your test aoife is excellent at her job. , friendly and knows all the info you need straight off vincent was my instructor for the rigid and got me through first time tops class dessie was my instructor for the artic he doesnt miss a thing but thats good he got me trough first time deserves a medal thanks to gerry and philip for all the guidance and putting me on the right path this company is not all about talking money of you its about you getting through the test and i felt this from the first phone call many thanks to all involved best regards regis golding

Today, at the age of 43, I at last passed my driving test; doing so, on my first attempt. After years of hesitancy, and a belief I wasn't capable of driving well, the skills, ability and professionalism exhibited by my driving instructor - Noel Nee, at all times ensured that I was more than capable and ready to achieve my full category B driving license. In no small way, it was the enthusiasm, patience, exacting dedication to excellence, humility, and his earnest sense of putting the learner first that allowed me advance with confidence to the position of executing my test, and further passing with a confidence I thought I did not own. Since my initial lesson with Noel, I was always greeted with optimism, calm, and a capacity to teach that at all times remained with me, and will, I believe, remain with me as I begin driving as a novice licensee. Again, since meeting Noel, I always felt listened to, treated as an equal, and spoken to in a manner that allowed me learn, returning each time with the knowledge I was growing in awareness, and further honing the skills necessary to become a competent driver. Here, his advice and willingness to go above and beyond in terms of ensuring I understood, while also instilling a belief I was more than capable, all indelibly paved the way to my passing the test in a successful manner. Today, therefore, it is without hesitation that I write this testimonial in the hope that Noel is somehow given the credit he richly deserves, and, from here, would gladly recommend him as an instructor to any and all, in particular those lacking the confidence in their own abilities. He remains an exceptionally good teacher exacting all those attributes required to allow those he tutors to excel as they should. In turn, I also wish to acknowledge the professionalism and understanding I was at all times met with by the staff at Advance Drive, in particular Aoife and Emma, who always met me with warmth, kindness, humour, and patience, in what has been an unprecedented and drawn out year. From my initial contact to passing my test I could not have been happier with the high level of service I received. Aoife and all the staff working in their Ballybane Office were approachable, informative and very knowledgeable about all aspects of Driving / Driving Tests and timescales involved. Dezzie was my Driving Instructor and he displayed all of the aforementioned traits and more. He is also very good at catering for each persons desired method of learning as well as simply being “sound as a pound”. I have nothing but the highest regard for all the staff at Advance Drive and can confidently recommend them to anyone looking to get any kind of Driving Licence. I went to Advanced drive after they were recommended by a friend. I have now passed 2 tests with them (bus and truck) and can't praise them enough. Phillip and Mike are both very patient and encouraging during the learning process. During each pre-test lesson they re-assured me and gave me ways to deal with the test nerves. This patience,professionality and excellent prices, added to their felxibility in scheduling lessons make them my first choice for any more tests. well done lads
