The Road Safety Authority (RSA) recently took part in filming for the Sky 1 documentary series Stop Search Seize  and the first episode is due to air tonight  (Tuesday 26^th July) @8pm.  The programme includes the Customs  Service, An Garda Síochána, relevant local authorities as well as the RSA.

The series comprises of ten episodes which focus on work carried out by various agencies. It focuses in particular on the area of commercial vehicle and driver checks at points of entry to Ireland.

Among others it follows RSA Transport Officers and Vehicle Inspectors as they carry out road side checks  in partnership with An Garda Síochána and highlights how effective the close working relationship can be in terms of removing unroadworthy and unlicensed commercial vehicles from our roads plus those driving excessively and reducing the risk for all road users.  The series demonstrates the excellent work carried out by the RSA at these checkpoints.

Driver fatigue is one of the key contributory factors to collisions in this country and the programme includes the important work done by the RSA Transport Officers and An Garda Siochana in improving compliance with drivers hours, tachograph and operator licensing obligations.

The series highlights to operators and drivers their obligations to maintain their commercial vehicle in a roadworthy condition and ensure drivers are compliant with drivers hours rules.

The series begins  tonight Tuesday 26^th July at 8pm on Sky one.
